How it started
David Moser and Mousa Sondoqah began working on generative AI for the solar sector in 2023. At EU PVSEC in Lisbon in September 2023, they were the first to present the concept of AI agents for PV at a sector conference. Since then they have kept pushing the conversation, at conferences, in reports and with industry partners, about what generative AI can do for solar and about the challenges and changes it will bring to how the sector works.
The agents should give professionals faster access to expert-grade analysis, so their teams can spend more time on the work that needs their judgement.
They don't replace that expertise.
Built on Becquerel Institute data
The first agents were built on data owned by Becquerel Institute: PV market and capacity data, component prices, manufacturer financials and our market reports. For over a decade the Becquerel Institute team has worked on PV market analysis, pricing, policy and system reliability for industry, investors and public bodies.
- PV market and capacity data
- Component prices
- Manufacturer financials
- Market reports
Building the agents on that data gave them something general AI tools don't have. They work from specialist data that is checked by the people who produce it.
What we do
Each agent on the platform focuses on one domain, such as market data, component prices, policy, project finance, plant design or module reliability. Each one works from curated datasets, reports and models, not from the open web. The roster keeps growing as we add new topics with our partners.

- Policy
- Project finance
- Plant design
- Module reliability

How we work with partners
Several agents are built together with research institutions, including Politecnico di Milano and the Polymer Competence Center Leoben. The partner keeps its intellectual property, and we provide the agentic framework that makes its work usable on the platform.
Our methodology also draws on IEA PVPS Task 13 and the SEAMLESS-PV project, where Becquerel Institute experts are directly involved.

When the agents aren't enough
Some questions can't be settled by an agent. Those go to Becquerel Institute experts. When needed, the experts pass them on to the domain specialists at the partner institution that built the agent.
